What will the apprentice be doing?

You will learn the process from receiving the artwork to chemically developing the image to produce a high quality glass gobo ready for projection by the end user.

On job training will be provided with following day to day assistant duties:

  • Collate and tool artworks for daily production runs
  • Produce glass gobos
  • Ensure health & safety measures are in place
  • Quality check gobos to meet customer expectations
  • Pack gobos in secure manner
  • Stock adjustments on computer system to keep accurate stock
  • Communicate when stock levels or resources are low
  • Allocate stock to sales orders on computer system
  • Produce UPS paperwork

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will obtain a qualification in Print Operative Level 2 Standard.

Training for both the apprenticeship and the relevant skills to succeed in the role will take place at the workplace, with no requirement to travel to the training provider, BPIF Training.

The employer will allow the apprentice time to complete the off-the-job requirement of the qualification during their working hours.

The training and studying for the apprenticeship will be done remotely via Microsoft Teams/Zoom etc. and with occasional visits from the training coordinator.

Apprentices without Level 1 (or equivalent) in English and maths must achieve Level 1 Functional Skills and take the test for Level 2 prior to taking the end-point assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3 and British Sign Language qualification are an alternative to English qualifications for whom this is their primary language.   

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

A full-time permanent position will be available for the right candidate upon completion of the apprenticeship.
