What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Manual assembly of multiple component assemblies
  • Pressure testing
  • Milling
  • Turning
  • Handling heavy/large components and parts
  • Gain experience operating suitable equipment
  • Wear appropriate PPE and work to acceptable H&S standards
  • Build relationships with the CBE Plus team

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will study on a Level 3 Engineering Technician standard on a Machinist, Advanced Manufacturing Engineer pathway.

Qualifications will include:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • Level 2 Diploma in Machining (Foundation Knowledge)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) - Machining
  • Level 3 Diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge)

During the first year, you will attend the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre for an initial block of study on a full-time basis.

After this, you will only attend the Training Centre for 1 day a week for knowledge study.

This includes electroless nickel plating, precision CNC machining, gear cutting and metal testing. Wire EDM, assembly, painting, shot blasting, heat treatment and pressure testing. CBE Plus is a modern, forward thinking manufacturer, offering services across a wide range of industries including aerospace, space, defence, oil and gas, automotive, motorsport & medical. The business is in a state of rapid development and growth, having just installed a new processing facility into the existing site, which has led to the need to recruit extra people to add to our team, which already includes several ex-apprentices as full time employees. Employing approximately 75 people, the current business is constantly looking for new opportunities and is quickly establishing a strong reputation for service whilst maintaining a close knit team.
