What will the apprentice be doing?

The job will entail learning and developing our document and data handling process. You will be responsible for

  • Scanning, attaching documents to patient medical records and correctly labelling them with the speciality.
  • You will gather data from the documents and enter this into records.
  • As the general practice evolves you will play a part in developing new processes to help the team become efficient and maintain accurate medical records for our patients.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Training and support will be given to the apprentice from the experienced admin and clinical team. You will learn to identify the various documents that come into the surgery via the different routes. Attention to detail is key, patient confidentiality must be maintained at all times. You will work towards completing the Business Admin L3 apprenticeship. 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The opportunity to train as a GP assistant would be a possibility after completing the apprenticeship, this will allow you to support the clinical team within the practice to a high and safe standard.
