What will the apprentice be doing?

We are a domicilary care organisation, which means our Acacia Angels visit our customers in their own homes.  Each customer is unique and will have a different requirement or conditions such as

  • Dementia
  • MS
  • Parkinsons
  • Elderly care
  • Learning disabilites
  • Mental health 
  • Palliative care

We provide the following services:

  • Personal care - washing, bathing and helping with toileting needs
  • Meal preparation
  • Medication assistance
  • Companionship
  • General household care
  • Shopping/outings

Once a customer call has been completed all our care support staff, record in detail what care was provided and general comments about the customer and report any concerns directly to the office.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Your training will take place with Brooklands College, Weysbidge, Surrey and you will undertake the Level 2 Diploma in Adult Care qualification.  

You will be required to attend college once a week to fulfill the theory and support this with 30 hours of week of care work with us.

Once you have qualified and gained your work experience as a care worker, you can go into many routes such as:

Things to consider

This role requires being flexible with working hours as our customers require care 7 days a week, including early mornings and evenings. You will also need to consider travel as you will be visiting customers in their home. Although a car is desirable it is not essential. You may consider using a bike to get to customers too.
