What will the apprentice be doing?

Within this exciting role your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Learning and applying carpentry skills on-site
    Working alongside other trades to gain an understanding of all aspects of building and to develop healthy working relationships
  • Learning to work as a team and developing your communication on-site
  • Understanding on-site health and safety and applying your carpentry skills in respect to the regulations you learn
  • Understanding the correct attitude and behaviour in the workplace

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Level 2 Carpentry and joinery apprenticeship

The apprentices will learn core skills, competencies and knowledge as well as specific site carpentry skills & knowledge: Core Skills and Competencies: Work safely and be aware of key health, safety and welfare issues. Plan and carry out their work to commercial standards of quality and speed. Move, handle and store resources, such as materials and timber components, complying with relevant legislation & guidance. Interpret and follow verbal and written work instructions from trade supervisors and site managers Select the required materials to carry out the work, such as correct timber, tools and fixings. Access, interpret and use drawings and specifications to carry out their work. Core Knowledge: Understand the principles of health, safety and welfare and how these are applied in the workplace. Understand how to communicate with others and comply with instructions and directions. Understand the different techniques and methods used to move, handle and store materials.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

We are very keen to give our apprentices the foundations they need as they develop into their full-time careers. By allowing our apprentices to work alongside our well-established team, we are confident they can learn more practically and effectively when faced with everyday situations in the workplace. Following a successful apprenticeship, we always hope to be in a position where we can employ our apprentices full-time.
