What will the apprentice be doing?


  • Deal with all reception/visitor matters
  • Escorting children/visitors to and from classrooms
  • Maintain computerised record/information systems and use IT systems to deal with financial processes and payments
  • Record and analyse data and produce letters and reports
  • Organise meetings and events
  • Be committed to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children and young people
  • Comply with the school’s policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
  • Be aware of and support difference and equal opportunities for all
  • Contribute to the overall ethos work aims of the school

About the employer

The Sue Hedley Nursery School is a Local Authority Nursery in South Tyneside. It is an outstanding provision and has been for several years. We currently have 88 3 and 4 year old places and 16 2 year old places. We follow the High Scope approach and are the High Scope Classroom Demonstrator for High Scope GB. We have a forest school on site that the children visit weekly. The office is the first port of entry for any parent and visitor as well as our children so a friendly and cheerful person is required to demonstrate our warm and relaxing ethos
