What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Assist with the production of high quality, freshly prepared food as directed by the Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Helping to ensure that food offer and resultant service facilitates a high quality of customer service, both standard day-to-day and function events.
  • Preparing and cooking a high quality, well presented and appropriate food offer as per the menu.
  • Assisting in the implementation and effective discharge of all relevant statutory requirements within the kitchen department. These include health & safety, food safety and fire safety.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

At the end of the apprenticeship. the student will understand the knowledge, skills and behaviours of the Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship Standard.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The candidate will have the opportunity to secure a permanent full time position with career progression.

About the employer

St Ives (Hunts) Golf Club, a club with history dating back to 1923, purchased a 230-acre site off the Needingworth Road in 2007. Three years later the land was transformed by renowned golf course architect Cameron Sinclair into a Championship Links-style Golf Course. The golf course has matured exceptionally well since opening in 2010, its true potential is being realised and there is a clear aspiration for St Ives (Hunts) Golf Club to be recognised as one of the finest golf venues in the East of England.
