What will the apprentice be doing?

  • To learn to effectively deliver the EYFS ensuring that the individual needs and interests of children in the setting are met
  • To learn to keep records of key children’s development up to date and in good order and to share these where necessary with parents / carers and gain their input to their child’s learning and development
  • To support other team members and be forthcoming in working together as a team
  • To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents / carers to facilitate day to day care and ensure developmental goals are met
  • To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having awareness of any additional needs, cultures, religions and medical history
  • To advise Management of any concerns relating to but not limited to - children’s development, parents, safety of the environment, safeguarding, staff members whilst ensuring that confidentiality is kept
  • To be involved in activities such as staff meetings, parents evenings, funding raising events and marketing events both inside and where deemed necessary outside of normal working hours
  • To be flexible within practices of the nursery undertaking other responsibilities or reasonable duties where required. Such as domestic tasks, preparation of snacks / meals, cleaning of equipment
  • To work alongside management and the staff team to ensure that the nursery ethos is fulfilled within daily practices
  • To read, understand and adhere to all nursery polices and procedures as part of daily practice to ensure the safe and effective running of the nursery
  • To develop your role within the nursery team
  • To ensure that you work with management to further develop your skills and role through regular supervision meetings, training and working towards actions set at annual appraisal meetings
  • To keep confidentiality at all times as per the nursery confidentiality code of conduct and as set out in the nurseries staff handbook
  • To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and to uphold its standards at all times both in and out of work hours
  • To aspire to become a good role model for children and learn from practitioners and management
  • To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times
  • To ensure that safeguarding is a priority within daily practice and that any safeguarding concerns are reported to the nursery safeguarding leads immediately. If you know that a concern has not been reported it remains your responsibility to ensure that this happens immediately
  • To keep up to date with changes to policies, procedures and documentation
  • To ensure that the staff handbook, induction processes and contractual information is adhered to at all times
  • To undertake any other reasonable tasks deemed necessary by management to ensure you are fulfilling your role within the nursery

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will gain the Level 2 Early Years Practioner Apprenticeship.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The Apprentice will gain their Early years Level 2 Qualification and will go onto Level 3 Apprenticeship.
