What will the apprentice be doing?


  • Understand and apply Agile Methodologies
  • Understand and work effectively in the Software Delivery Lifecycle
  • Write clean code within agreed timescales and to agreed quality standards
  • Understand software testing and support in testing new and existing applications
  • Become proficient in C#, HTML / CSS, .NET
  • Become proficient in low code development using Outsystems
  • Draft documentation to support solutions
  • Review requirements and user stories
  • Develop the knowledge of Total Produce’s business processes needed to develop effective solutions


  • You have a proven interest in coding through your A Level / college course or online platforms like Code Academy and are seeking a Level 4 Software Developer apprenticeship as the first step on tech career
  • You be able to demonstrate your coding skills through personal projects you’ve completed
  • You’ll enjoy problem solving and want to develop your skills in analysis and design and you will be able to interpret functional / technical specifications and ask relevant questions about what you don’t understand
  • You’ll also be willing and able to work remotely if required and feel confident using video chat

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

As part of the Level 4 Software Developer apprenticeship standard, you’ll be registered as a member with the British Computer Society and be on a fast track to an industry recognised qualification and your dedicated industry coach will support you through a blended approach that will include remote, in person, 1-2-1 and group learning.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Upon successful completion of the Level 4 apprenticeship, you will be offered a permanent position in Total Produce. If you are not a graduate, or you have a degree in a non tech subject, you’ll be given the opportunity to complete a BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions.
