What will the apprentice be doing?

Working alongside our Head Chef, learning all areas of the kitchen including:

  • Checking of quality of produce on regular basis
  • Learning importance of stock rotation
  • Preparation of ingredients and items for cooking meals to order
  • Use of relevant catering utensils and equipment
  • Clearing away, cleaning down work area on a regular basis
  • Maintaining a clean and hygienic working environment at all times
  • Learning menu creation, portion control, etc

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Commis Chef Level 2  Apprenticeship Standard
  • One day college attendance at Northumberland College in Ashington required

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • You will be based in Ord House Country Park, Berwick-upon-Tweed
