What will the apprentice be doing?

  • To learn and develop as part of our Early Years Team
  • To support the children’s learning and development
  • Supporting the children in their day to day routines and learning the nursery routine
  • Learning our curriculum intent and our ways of planning to plan for the children’s interests, and providing the children with learning and play activities to extend their development
  • Working with keyworkers to observe the children and contributing towards observations and online learning journals
  • Supporting the set up of both the indoor and outdoor areas, to ensure there are learning opportunities available throughout.
  • Helping and supporting with children’s meal and snack times, including food hygiene and allergy awareness training
  • Keeping the children safe at all times and following our safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Familiarising with all company policies and procedures
  • Any other duties required by the manager

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 2 - Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard:

  • This Apprenticeship is completed within the workplace. You will be assessed through written work, verbal discussion and observation throughout your training
  • You will be given time by your employer to complete portfolio work, attend training, workplace shadowing and any other opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge

About the employer

We are a childcare setting consisting of one nursery ages 2-4yrs registered for 24 children and one before and after school club ages 4-11yrs registered for 40 children. Located in Wheelton, Chorley and operate all year round. We are a small company with 10 employees across our sites.
