What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Setting up the activities for the day.
  • Changing nappies/assisting with toilet trips for the toddlers.
  • Safeguarding. Keeping the children safe and teaching relevant boundaries.
  • Assisting on daily craft activities and outings.
  • Supporting children with breakfast and lunch feed.
  • To ensure safety and wellbeing of children at all times, whilst in the setting and out and about.
  • To support in providing appropriate learning experiences and planning age-appropriate activities for the children.
  • To help in maintaining a clean environment at all times.
  • To achieve a DBS and paediatric aid essentials.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

On the apprenticeship, you will study units such as health & safety in a childcare setting, holistic child development, safeguarding in a childcare setting, child development, communication with children, purposeful play and educational programmes, supporting children with special educational needs, collaborative working in early years childcare and wellbeing principles for children (these modules may differ).

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, you will achieve a Level 3 qualification, a TQUK Diploma in Early Years, and first aid.

If you do not hold a 4/C grade in GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent), Functional Skills at Level 2 will be delivered alongside the apprenticeship programme.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There could potentially be a permanent position for the right person, upon completion of the programme.
