What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Pre-prep for service such as preparing vegetables, slow cooking meat etc.
  • Cooking and serving during service.
  • Clean down after service.
  • You role will also include managing stock, ensuring records are kept up to date, aspects of health & safety, devising seasonal specials and learning how to organise and run a successful establishment.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Commis Chef level 2 Apprenticeship 

You will attend college weekly at our Buxton Campus, spending time in our industry-standard kitchens with other apprentices. You will also have a 6 weekly visit from your assigned college assessor-mentor who will observe you in the workplace and discuss your progress with you and your workplace mentor.

About the employer

The Ryles Arms is independently owned and has history dating back to the 1500’s. In the past it has been a blacksmiths, the local sweet shop and for the past century has mostly been a public house for the locals to enjoy. Since taking on the Ryles in September 2010 Alex and his team have focused their efforts on providing all customers who walk through the doors with great quality food and service. The menu now boasts such variety that there truly is something for everyone whether it be fine dining, pub favourites or a second to none steak from our flame grill.
