What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Supporting the admin team with emails, telephone calls and medical records
  • Entering data using the clinical in-house system
  • Corresponding with patients, ensuring all records are kept up to date
  • Assist with current projects which are being undertaken within the Practice

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • In-house training on all clinical systems undertaken at Upton Surgery
  • One day a week OTJ training taking place at Heart of Worcestershire College
  • On completion of apprenticeship, the successful candidate will be awarded an ILM Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

On completion of the apprenticeship, there is the possibility of a full-time position within the admin or reception team to non profits. The apprenticeship can also lead to positions in multiple industries including manufacturing, health care, education, finance, civil service, non profits and retail.

About the employer

Upton Surgery is a GP practice with 11,700 patients and a dispensary. There are 6 GP Partners, with 3 salaried GP's. It is a training practice for trainee doctors and has a Reception, Admin and Dispensary team. There are 4 practice nurses, 5 HCA's and 3 advances nurse practitioners.
