What will the apprentice be doing?

The new person will be made to feel very much part of the team, their role will be to help with meeting and greeting, taking details of new customers and their dogs requirements as well as assisting in the grooming process. You will learn all aspects of becoming a successful dog groomer.

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Dealing with customers in the boutique
  • Cleaning the salon to a high standard
  • Caring for the clients much loved pets
  • Washing, ( with possible clipping and trimming)
  • Health and Safety

You will be dealing with a variety of dogs and need to be able to adapt to their needs to give them a positive experience.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will gain a level 2 Dog groomer apprenticeship standard

  • The apprentice will be working to build a portfolio of evidence and will be required to pass a knowledge test and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete the apprenticeship.
  • All training will take place at the work location and the applicant will complete a dog groomer apprenticeship in full.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Employment/advanced apprenticeship for the right candidate if available.

Things to consider

Short Bark & Sides is owned and run by Tracey Clarke, a professionally trained dog groomer. Tracey has had a lifelong love of all animals but her passion is dogs. The salon is spacious and has a very friendly and professional atmosphere. We are a very friendly small team and have now been operating for nearly 9 years. People can leave their dog at Short Bark & Sides and have the peace of mind of knowing that whilst there, their dog will be treated to a positive and comfortable grooming experience.
