As a Pharmacy Technician you will become a registered health care professional working within the regulatory standards for pharmacy, as set by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). What will the apprentice be doing?

Your work will range from providing community services, dispensing, dealing with GP Practices, dispensing for care homes and effectively giving advice to patients and selling over-the-counter pharmacy medicines.

You will be trained to manage the supply of medicines and devices in a pharmacy and assist the pharmacists with services.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The apprentice will train to be a NVQ level 3 pharmacy dispensing technician and will also be enrolled into college to further their learning.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

An accuracy checking technician (ACT) free's up time for the pharmacist to offer patient-centred care by focusing on service provision, medicines’ management and optimisation.

Reduced risk of dispensing-related incidents as ACTs will be accuracy checking items labelled and dispensed by another individual
