What will the apprentice be doing?

Working within a fast-paced environment, the apprentice will administer item specific production estimates from supplied artwork and specifications ensuring that production requirements and deadlines are met.

The right candidate will ideally have previous experience in the print industry and should elaborate on this in their application.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Creating production estimates and checking virtual work tickets
  • Liaising with various internal departments and external customers to resolve various issues
  • Checking and signing off artwork specifications
  • Updating production plans to enable manufacturing deadlines to be met
  • Understand and interpret customer proofs / artwork
  • Understand combination workflow - plan different artworks on one sheet
  • Move data from one program to another
  • Read works instructions to determine instructions and specifications for machine set-up
  • Understand artworks, print, cut and crease and finishing process
  • Work to tight deadlines, in a calm and professional manner whilst achieving deadlines
  • General administration

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the qualification obtained will be a Business Administration (Level 3).

The apprentice will be given sufficient time to undertake their "off-the-job" requirement of the apprenticeship.

Throughout your time as an apprentice, you will be supported by both Westrock and the BPIF. You will be assigned a training coordinator to ensure that you have the best training available. Training requirements will be discussed at the point of employment to suit your individual needs and business needs. Most training and studying will be a combination of remote and site-based.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Once qualified you would be looking at a full-time role working with the ETS Origination.
