What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Preparing vegetables and assisting clients to be as involved as possible in the process
  • Animal care (clients pets)….chickens, goats and a rabbit all require cleaning out and feeding…support the adults to take a full part in all these processes
  • Going out into the community for a disco, music and move session, swimming and walks out or lunch out

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The apprenticeship training will be delivered on the job at Hazelhurst farm Somerton by experienced staff who will support with high quality advice and support throughout. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the Adult Care Worker Level 2 standard. On completion the apprentice will receive Adult Care Worker Level 2 qualification. Functional Skills in Maths and English may also be required depending on current level.   

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There will be a permanent position in the business for the right person.

Things to consider

Please be aware this job role requires you to assist with toileting and personal care tasks. You MUST be prepared to commit to your work and training for the duration of the apprenticeship. You will be required to have a telephone interview with Yeovil College prior to your application being passed on.
