What will the apprentice be doing?

1- Engineering duties.

  • Installing / Maintaining phone systems
  • Installing / Maintaining IT equipment, networks and associated devices
  • Installing Cables
  • Any other engineering duties as and when required

2 - General Office Duties.

  • Answering & making phone calls
  • Entering data
  • Contacting potential customers to arrange meetings with Brontel salespersons

3 - WLR /Phone Systems.

  • Ordering phone lines
  • Ordering hosted phone systems
  • Configuration of hosted phone systems

Any other reasonable duties as required.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

This is an Advanced Apprenticeship Standard for an Information Communications Technician at Level 3. It will include a combination of on and off the job training in the workplace. You will have monthly mentoring and guidance at work from a Craven College Learning & Development Advisor alongside weekly college attendance. After 18 months you will be entered to undertake an End Point Assessment, conducted by an assessor from an external End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) to complete your Apprenticeship.

If candidates do not have A*-C (4-9) in Maths & English at GCSE there will be a requirement to do Functional Skills up to Level 2.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Potentially leading to permanent employment on successful completion of the apprenticeship. This will be reviewed towards the end of the apprenticeship.
