What will the apprentice be doing?

  • To contribute to maintaining effective health, safety and child protection procedures
  • Prepare snacks/drinks
  • Monitoring at lunch times
  • Helping feed children at lunch time
  • Cleaning after children throughout the day
  • Help to plan daily activities to suit the children
  • Help getting children ready to go outdoors or trips
  • To provide high standards of childcare and education, to include the monitoring and implementation of children’s development, including providing a safe, caring environment to enable the emotional, social and educational development of children, through individual attention and group activities
  • Help with a high standard of personal care including, dressing, feeding and washing children
  • To help provide a safe, interesting and stimulating environment
  • Good communication skills required as you will be part of a team and will have to speak with parents

You will attend weekly, off the job training sessions at the Oldham College.

Things to consider

You will be expected to be flexible with the working hours to ensure ratios are maintained. During the year you will be expected to participate in additional events out of the normal working hours, for example, parent’s evening and open days. There is a degree of lifting and carrying that you will need to be able to carry out. This setting is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. You will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS.

About the employer

We are a friendly registered Childminders based in Ashton-under-Lyne. We offer parents childcare for their children from birth to 13 years old. We carry out school runs before and after school and care for younger children during school hours.
