What will the apprentice be doing?

Based in one of our busy kitchens in Central London, duties would be varied. You would learn on rotation how to lead the different sections within the kitchen, further develop your experience with food preparation, cooking techniques and work safely within HSE guidance. You would also learn how to manage junior chefs and support the sous chef with additional responsibilities. You would complete the apprenticeship on day-release from site. Once the course is completed, we would encourage your development through the business to gain promotion.

Tasks could include, but not limited to:

  • the preparation of food,
  • baking
  • service
  • stocktaking
  • moving stock
  • cleaning

There will be supervision responsibility of other staff.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Alongside your day-to-day duties, you will complete the Chef de Partie Level 3 Apprenticeship. This is a nationally recognised qualification and the primary objective of the Commis Chef is to learn and understand how to carry out the basic functions in every section of the kitchen. You will attend college 1 day each week during term-time and will be supported through this qualification by your Personal Development Coach.  You will be visited at your place of work. All travel expenses will be covered by your employer. You are not expected to complete any of your Apprenticeship work outside of your working hours. .
