What will the apprentice be doing?

  • First line user support and training for workstations, laptops, tablets and mobile devices
  • To assist with the checking and maintenance of the school’s ICT resource for safe, effective use by students and staff
  • To work the ICT team to ensure that IT and acceptable use policies are adhered to
  • Liaising with suppliers and external providers, as directed by the ICT Network Manager or a member of the Senior Leadership Team
  • To support staff and student use of ICT within the classroom, and remotely when required
  • Maintenance of desktop PCs and laptops, including building, configuring, updating, and deploying hardware to users
  • Troubleshooting PC, wired and wireless LAN problems
  •  Provide advice and guidance on the use of ICT systems

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Throughout the apprenticeship learners receive coaching, help and guidance from a dedicated team who are there to ensure they get the most from their work experience.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communications Technician, with training in how to:

  • Efficiently operate and control your ICT infrastructure physical or virtual hardware, software, network services and data storage
  • Use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components
  • Prioritise systems support tasks and monitor and maintaining system performance
  • Maintain regulatory, legal and professional standards
  • Support the information systems needs for your business
