What will the apprentice be doing?

As a Business Administration Apprentice. You will work alongside the school administrator and be the first point of contact for students, parents and visitors at the school. The successful candidate will be expected to work in the school office.

Purpose of Job

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To assist with office duties such as greeting and assisting customers (including pupils, parents and visitors) ensuring that they ‘sign in’ and are given a visitors’ badge.
  • To answer the telephone and pass on messages as appropriate.
  • To assist with requests and actions for the Head teacher and School Business Manager.
  • To take visitors to the appropriate member of staff/meeting room as appropriate.
  • To undertake typing of letters/documents as required.
  • To use basic computer programmes to carry out tasks such as data input, process estimates and simple asset management plans.
  • Taking minutes of meetings and completing simple agendas.
  • Processing all accident at work assessment forms.
  • Willingness to undertake additional appropriate training.
  • Collation of school meal numbers and tracking of payment.
  • Placing of orders and receipting of goods on the finance system.
  • Maintenance of the school’s MIS.
  • Help manage the School Fund.
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be requested. The above responsibilities do not define or include all tasks required of the post holder. Duties and responsibilities may vary without changing the level of responsibility.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The successful applicant will complete and obtain a Business Administration Qualification through Learning Curve Group. 

You will be taught through:

  • 4-6 Weekly 1-2-1 Sessions with your tutor
  • 6 weekly hours of Off The Job Training
  • The course is a 15 month long programme
