What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Working hours 7:30-13:30 Monday to Friday.
  • Working mostly with children ages 2-4.
  • Playing with children. Helping them to learn and develop. 
  • Supporting children at meal-times. 
  • Helping to maintain a safe and stimulating environment; keeping it clean and tidy.
  • Working with our team of staff to keep children safe. 
  • Building relationships with children and parents. 
  • Muddy Puddles polo shirt provided. 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification. 

Working hours 7:30-13:30. During this time staff will support you in learning on the job and helping you settle into your role. 

Regular online tutorials with your tutor. Tutorials can be completed in our office where you will be supplied with a laptop. 

Support from your assigned tutor. Staff that have trained through HIT training have found their tutors to be extremely supportive and readily available to answer questions about coursework. 

Coursework to be completed out of working hours. Staff are always more than happy to help with any questions you have about your coursework.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

After your apprenticeship there will be a position available at Muddy Puddles for you as a nursery practitioner. If you wish to continue to complete your level 3 in early years education we will strongly encourage this and support you through this training with HIT.

Things to consider

As children love to play outdoors and as it is such an important part of their development, all staff must be prepared to work outdoors in all weathers. We provide waterproof trousers but warm clothes are strongly encouraged in the colder months.

About the employer

Muddy Puddles is a small and friendly family run business. We are currently a team of 9. We care for children from 6 months to 4 years (when they start school). The nursery is open from 7:30am to 18:00pm, Monday to Friday.
