What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Assuming the responsibilities of the General Manager in their absence
  • Recruiting, training and supervising staff
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing, hygiene and health and safety legislation/guidelines
  • Establish and maintain effective employee relations
  • Overseeing stock levels
  • Ordering supplies
  • Managing staff rotas
  • Handling customer enquiries and complaints
  • Taking reservations
  • Greeting and advising customers
  • Ensuring daily, weekly and monthly targets are met
  • Ensuring all team members follow the policies and procedures of the company
  • Ensuring that employees report for duty on time, in the correct uniform and with the highest standards of personal hygiene
  • Handling administration and paperwork
  • Liaising with customers, employees, suppliers, licensing authorities and sales representatives
  • Making improvements to the running of the business and developing the restaurant

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • As a professional apprentice you'll achieve a Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship with Anglia Ruskin University, alongside real work experience. You’ll be paid throughout and there are no tuition fees, as these are met by your employer and the Government

When the Apprentice starts with Stem & Glory, you will receive a thorough induction to the company starting November 1st. The study aspect of the Degree Apprenticeship will start in January 2023.

  • Apprentices will have a protected learning of 20% per week allowed time for study
  • Delivered part-time over three years
  • Blended learning: online study combined with work-place learning and twelve one-day workshops per year

Our BA (Hons) Chartered Manager Degree apprenticeship course includes a range of core modules related to the development of management skills. These include

Year one, core modules

  • Work-Based Project

  • Reflections on Practice and Career Progression

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • The apprenticeship starts at Assistant Manager level, it is expected that career progression is to General Manager either during or following completion of the course
  • Although this apprenticeship is in a hospitality setting, a wide variety of other management settings will be suitable as career progression
