What will the apprentice be doing?

The role is mainly mobile, field-based working in the homes of private clients, care establishments, hospitals etc.

  • executing installations
  • repairs of mobility products such as scooters, wheelchairs, rise/recline chairs etc
  • access products such as stairlifts and patient hoists.

Developing knowledge across the whole range will also be included within the role via apprenticeship and other training provided through the employer.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Engineering Fitter L3 apprenticeship standard - Electrical Pathway - Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering & BTEC Diploma in advanced Manufacturing Engineering , plus Functional Skills if required.

This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our Oddicroft Lane, NG17 campus. This attendance is required during term time only.

You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession. You will experience a blended learning model with clasrrom sessions in college. You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.

At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Progression to full time role on offer, the employer will also put you through your drivers licence.
