What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Under the supervision of a Trained Waste Network Engineer to provide a waste cleaning service to Customers
  • Trained on using all acoustic leakage detection methods
  • Trained on Street works - how to set up a safe street traffic system whilst working on manholes

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Intermediate Level 2 Apprenticeship Water Network Operative
  • On and Off the Job Training at RPS locations
  • Block release timetable to be confirmed - usually 2-4 days per month

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Potential to be offered a permanent role as a Waste Network Engineer on £18500 pa plus overtime.

Potential to be promoted to work as a Technical Specialist - in the field where their technical prowess in the field will be relied on by other Field Engineers.

Potential to be promoted to a Supervisor/Field Manager - supervising a number of Field Engineers.

Potential to be promoted to an Ops Manager that will supervise a number of Field Managers.

Potential to be promoted to a Regional Manager to run a fully operational depot.

Things to consider

This is a physical/manual role where the candidate is expected to be able to lift heavy objects i.e manhole covers and exposure to waste water/sewage, and will be provided with the correct training and equipment to do so.
