What will the apprentice be doing?

You will be involved with:

  • How a project is initiated and set up.
  • The liaison and coordination with all company departments and disciplines.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the H&S of all operatives, visitors and general public.
  • Requisition and selection of staff, subcontractors, plant, equipment and materials.
  • Inspection of H&S control documentation including method statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Monitoring the project against the contract programme.
  • Maintain and monitor the quality of trade installations and compliance with the specification and drawings.
  • Design workshop meetings to discuss the challenges and find resolutions.
  • Preparation and production of meeting minutes and reports.
  • Drawing and document management.
  • Maintaining and auditing of company procedures.
  • The selection and placing of orders with sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • The measuring and requisition of materials.
  • Maintaining the quality management system.
  • Managing client expectations.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Experience will be gained in the areas above by working alongside an established project team that will include Site Managers, Design Managers and Contract Managers.

The apprenticeship is for those looking to achieve a Level 4 Construction Site Supervisor apprenticeship. You will also receive a Level 4 qualification in Construction and Built Environment.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Opportunity for progression to Assistant Site Manager, Site Manager and longer-term Project Manager and Contracts Manager.

Ideally the apprentice will remain with Kingerlee after their apprenticeship in order to develop further with a view to becoming an Assistant Site Manager before moving onto a Site Managers role and potentially furthering their qualification.

In return Kingerlee offer the following

  • You will be entitled to 25 days basic annual holiday plus statutory bank holidays on joining the company pro rata.
  • Loyalty days will be accrued over the coming years up to a maximum of 30 days holiday per annum. The holiday year commences on the 1st January.
  • Employer’s pension contributions (6% of basic salary if you contribute 4%) towards your Group Personal Pension (Salary Exchange Scheme) is available after a qualifying period of three months. This is a 3-month postponement for the purposes of Auto Enrolment legislation.
