What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Deliver Health and Safety training, toolbox talks and inductions
  • Present investigation findings to the management team and wider workforce
  • Assist with the development, management and implementation of the Health and Safety management system in line with changes in legislation or best practice
  • Identify hazards and evaluate the level of risk that each of them present
  • Implement risk management solutions for identified hazards
  • Support the application of work instructions for the safe use of equipment, materials and prodcuts
  • Support the implementation of SHE inspections and monitroing systems
  • Prepare and maintain records relating to safety, health and environmental matters that comply with legal and workplace requirements
  • Assist and manage the investigation of incidents, accidents, and dangerous occurences
  • Asssit the management team in establishing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders such as local authorires, health and safety executive, and occupational health

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • By the end of the apprenticeship you will have acheived the level 3 'Safety, Health and Envrionment Technician' qualification
  • The training will take place over a period of 24 months. This will be mainly at our EGGER plant in Hexham. However, the apprenticeship involves block release so some days will be spent at Derwentside College

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • After completing the apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to remian in contunied employmenet with EGGER as a Health and Safety trainee. From here, it is up to you how far you would like you career with EGGER to go. We have former apprentices who are now senior supervisors and specialists within their field
