What will the apprentice be doing?

We are looking for someone who is friendly, enthusiastic and ambitious, and would work well within a small yet very busy customer-based team.  Tasks will vary but could include:

  • Assisting patients in the reception area with face-to-face enquiries/support where necessary
  • Assisting with patient telephone enquiries and liaising with other NHS/GP partners as necessary
  • Booking routine medical appointments
  • Support with administration tasks as necessary such as scanning documents, filing records, maintaining patient files etc.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship standard:

  • On the job training as necessary to support role development
  • Off the job training (College attendance) to support qualification
  • Employer will allocate dedicated training time to support Off the Job training requirements
  • Functional Skill support in maths/English - if required

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Possibility of future employment/progression opportunities upon successful completion of Level 2 qualification.

Things to consider

Due to nature of role any potential apprentice must respect all aspects of business and client confidentiality at all times and respect all visitors to the surgery. Part of the qualification will require regular College attendance (currently one full day per month, but supported with regular zoom/online training as well as site visits). College is based at Marsh Mills, Plymouth.
