What will the apprentice be doing?

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Setting and operating modern CNC machine centres.
  • Understanding and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Creating CNC programs using the latest CAD software.
  • Making changes to existing CNC programs to meet drawing requirements.
  • Using precision measurement systems.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Studying the Engineering Technician Apprenticeship you will attend college at our Leek Campus, college transport is available, and spend time in our dedicated engineering workshop which includes CAM/CAD suites, 3D printers alongside traditional engineering machines such as lathes. You will also receive training and support in the workplace and build a portfolio of evidence against the skills, knowledge and behaviour as set out in the apprenticeship standard. 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There is potential for permanent employment on the successful completion of your apprenticeship.
