What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Carry out planned and reactive service work to customers' fire and security systems such as fire alarms, disabled refuge systems, intruder alarms, access control and CCTV systems in accordance with all relevant British Standards
  • Create detailed reports of tests and findings, identifying where critical faults could cause problems later
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification where possible
  • Carry out remedial works and small works and maintaining asset registers
  • Add value to clients by looking for opportunities to ensure fire safety measures are suitable for the clients’ needs

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The apprenticeship training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning and regular college attendance. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the Level 3 Fire emergency and security systems standard. On completion the apprentice will receive Fire emergency and Security systems technician qualification. Functional Skills in Maths and English may also be required depending on current level.

Things to consider

You MUST be prepared to commit to your work and training for the duration of the apprenticeship. You will be required to have a telephone interview with Yeovil College prior to your application being passed on. If a suitable candidate is found prior to the advertised closing date, it may close earlier so please apply early to avoid disappointment.
