We are looking for an apprentice groundworker to join our friendly team. You will be a member of construction staff who prepares the land ready for building on, and often takes care of drainage, concreting, kerbing and flagging. At the end of a home build, groundworkers return to put in driveways and footpaths.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Ground working – marking out and digging shallow trenches for foundations and drains
  • Form working – putting up or dismantling the shuttering that holds setting concrete in place
  • Installing drainage and manholes
  • Concreting – layering and smoothing concrete for foundations, floors and beams
  • Minor road working – concreting, laying kerbs, paving and re-surfacing
  • To wear correct PPE for all tasks
  • To follow all risk and COSHH assessments and instructions provided in tool box talk
  • To organise materials and equipment, tidy and maintain site depot as require
  • Any other duties that may reasonably be requested by the Supervisor, Groundworker or Contracts Manager

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Full Training towards the Level 2 Groundworker Standard will be given.

Day release to college will be one day a week

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
