What will the apprentice be doing?

Initially, candidate will enter prices onto sales orders and raise invoices on a daily basis. Candidate will also be expected to take orders by telephone and email raising initial sales orders. Candidate will be required to put purchases on ledger, checking accuracy with invoices sent by email.  Once candidate is proficient with these tasks, they will then be expected to enter cash receipts onto system. Candidate will also be expected to perform tasks on Excel, maintaining daily and weekly sales and purchases.  Once candidate shows proficiency in attention to detail, other tasks will be expected, including entry onto system of electronic receipts and help with compilation of credit control and the system to ensure purchase and sales ledger are kept up to date in order to give accurate aged debtors and creditors reports. Other tasks will also involve credit notes, returns, electronic issuing of invoices, ad hoc statements and copy invoices and replying to queries regarding balances. 

Use of Sage 200 to:

  • Input prices onto sales orders and raise invoices from these.
  • Take orders from customers and input onto system.
  • Input purchase orders.
  • Checking prices on stock.
  • Checking accuracy of stock and moving stock.
  • Moving on to other duties when proficient at these duties.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Accounts / Finance Assistant intermediate (L2) Apprenticeship.
  • AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. 
  • Full on the job training.
  • Functional Skills in maths and English (if required).
  • Training will be a mixture of classroom and on-line delivery. 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
