What will the apprentice be doing?

We have an excellent history of developing apprentices to become the best they can be. 

Kingswood Care and Support Services provides a flexible, person centred, outcome-based service, for adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.

We will achieve this by:

Employing a dedicated and committed workforce to meet people's needs

Adopting a culture that enables responsible risk taking

Embracing change and the challenge that change may bring

Provide care and support to young adults with learning disability and complex needs

Support with personal care needs including:

  • Bathing
  • Washing
  • Feeding

Enabling people to have as full a life as possible such as:

  • Accessing cinema's, college's, shopping clubs and all that life entails
  • Person-centred support to meet health needs
  • Manage finances
  • Carry out domestic duties
  • Providing companionship and social stimulation
  • Ensuring you are up to date, and adhere to new policies and procedures
  • Assisting in the delivery of care plans

You will be provided with a named mentor and have day to day contact with one of our registered home managers.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will work towards the Level 2 Adult Care Worker diploma. Our blended approach means that our programmes are flexible and enable apprentices to experience a range of learning and support opportunities in a variety of formats such as online or at a local ACL centre. You will have a dedicated Tutor who you will meet (online or face to face) once a month and they will guide you through your Apprenticeship and prepare you for your End Point Assessment (EPA).

The EPA takes place at the end of the Apprenticeship and is a comprehensive holistic assessment of your skills, knowledge and behaviours learnt and demonstrated throughout. 

You will also be required to undertake Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2 if you do not hold these qualifications (or equivalent) already.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There may be an opportunity for a fulltime support worker at the end of the apprenticeship programme. The current salary for a fulltime support worker is: £19,266.00.

Things to consider

This role requires a very flexible approach to work hours. The suitable candidate will have a caring nature underpinned by the principles of respecting human rights, equality and empowerment. You will work alongside a qualified and experienced team who are committed to supporting people. You will be given time and support to enable you to study towards achieving the apprenticeship award. This position is community based and a certain amount of travel is required. Some activities will take place outside in all weathers, depending on what activities individuals wish to pursue.

About the employer

Kingswood Care and Support Services provide support in 5 locations covering Pitsea, Laindon and Canvey Island. We also provide support to people in their own homes. Apprentices in the past have gained experience in all services with a main base identified at the start of the programme after establishing skills and preferences. The residential services consist of small ordinary houses with no more than 6 people residing.
