The role does involve personal care, preparing meals and some cleaning, medication and all areas appropriate to promoting a healthy life.

But the role will also include going shopping with individuals, going for ice-cream and many other community activities that the individuals ask for or may like to do.

We are a fully electronic service, this includes care plans, medication, staff rota’s etc.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Adult Care Work Level 2 Standard

We are currently operating a blended learning model with a combination of remote delivery through the use of MS Teams and face to face delivery

We promote a huge level of training, and we actively request that you ask for other areas of training if we have not provided it all ready.

We have 40-60 Mandatory training courses: dependent on the service and service need.  Plus, lots more courses available.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

We promote career progression with a large number of steps. For example we have promoted a young lady from a Cleaner position to an activities coordinator, to a support worker, to a senior support worker, to a team leader and a unit manager and now she is an acting registered service manager. She requested the training and we recognised her skills and abilities and encouraged and provided all the required training as far as NVQ 5 and she is the light that shows what is possible.
