What will the apprentice be doing?
SR Electrical is looking to embark on an apprenticeship program to train and develop new recruits who can support the continued growth and development of our business.
Enthusiasm and initiative are important, along with a willingness to learn new skills and develop their product knowledge. Applicants will need to be motivated, enthusiastic, and naturally ambitious.
You will need to be a confident team player and have good communication skills.
The role:
- Typically, an electrical wholesaler will operate a stockroom and trade counter, which is visited regularly by trade customers who have product knowledge about what they are specifically buying
- Electrical wholesalers will be dealing with customer sales at the trade counter, over the telephone and via email and will understand incoming deliveries, stock control, and dispatch, and proactively follow up customer enquiries and incoming orders.
- They will be familiar with processing customer orders and taking delivery of goods and the basic administration related to these functions and maintaining a customer database.
- A key element of their role will be to have technical knowledge of the products and services offered together with the tailor-made systems and equipment used in their trade business
- They will communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers to build and maintain relationships and provide a high-quality service that encourages repeat business

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
As part of the Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship standard, you will learn the knowledge, skills and behaviours which will support you for your end-point assessment. You will take part in a combination of activities, such as face-to-face classroom-based sessions, remote learning sessions, work shadowing and online learning, to support your learning and development and compile a portfolio of evidence.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake training sessions with Avant Skills Academy every other week throughout the length of the apprenticeship. If you have not achieved a GCSE grade 4 (C) in English and maths, you will be required to complete Functional Skills Level 2 in English and maths.
Off-the-job-training:
- Apprenticeships are about upskilling and reaching occupational competency takes time. Many employers and apprentices have praised the positive effect off-the-job training has on their productivity and apprentices feel valued by the significant investment in their training
- All off-the-job training must be relevant to the Apprenticeship Standard being undertaken. Your off-the-job training will be agreed upon with your employer and Avant before you commence your programme
End-Point Assessment (EPA):
- At the end of the on-programme learning, you will be required to undertake an End-Point Assessment (EPA) to demonstrate you have met the occupational standard
