What will the apprentice be doing?

You will be primarily working towards carrying out basic functions and tasks in every section of the kitchen. You'll also be assisting the other chefs whilst working in a team producing high quality food. 

Some tasks will include, but not be limited to:

  • Food preparation, using high quality ingredients, following carefully crafted recipes. 
  • Use a range of cooking disciplines, including baking.
  • Ensure stock levels are maintained and regular rotation of stock is carried out.
  • Cleaning and washing up dishes both post-use and in preparation for meals.
  • Ensuring all procedures are compliant with Health and Safety regulations.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The learning journey of any chef will vary considerably from one individual to the next; however it is necessary to understand and have experience in the basics that the Commis Chef role provides in order to progress to any future senior chef role. This is what we aim to provide any candidate with this specific course, working towards a Level 2 Commis Chef Qualification.
