What will the apprentice be doing?

Product research and development is the basis for this role. This can mean new product design, developing existing products or producing technical documents and drawings. The role will be within a team developing products for the UK & International market. You will be contributing in product development to make our offering capable of meeting future UK building regulations, that will demand a higher security and energy saving performance. There will also be projects to develop products for different sales regions internationally. To fit this role you would need to be of a technical nature and be able to learn to produce detailed drawings, as well as having the skills to be practical within a workshop. 

Responsibilities within the role: (Training Provided)
• Contribute with product design & development. 
• Produce technical documents: Product Manuals (Design/Fabrication/Installation) Product Charts Product Bulletins
• Create U-Value & Energy Rating Reports
• Support customers and colleagues with technical information for products
• Support with product testing
• Producing prototype samples and sales samples for customers
• Researching products.  

Software used within the role: (Training Provided)
• AutoCAD/Solidworks/SIEMENS NX potentially Blender
• Microsoft Office Programs (Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
• WinIso (Specialist software for U-Values/Energy Ratings)

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Engineering Technician Technical Support pathway 13 L3 including:

Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering - Technical Support Technician (Development Competence)
Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge) BTEC Diploma Edexcel L3
Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) Diploma L2

Plus Functional Skills if required.

You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession. You will experience a blended learning model with worplace delivery and classroom sessions. You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.

At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.

There are excellent progression opportunities with this employer, including progressing onto an HND in Engineering.

Profine are an international leader for producing PVC extrusion products within fenestration industry. They have an established UK based factory in Nottinghamshire, that has recently invested in a 1,700 sq ft product training & development centre. This will be key in developing the portfolio of products that are exported globally, as well as supplying within the UK.
