Finance Apprentice (Completing Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Standard) WATERMILL THEATRE LTD

Working as part of a small team, you will be trained to assist in the general finances for the theatre whilst learning how the theatre runs. What will the apprentice be doing?

Following on the job training your principal duties will include:

  • Daily tasks: Processing of purchase invoices, bank transactions and takings from Front of House, Box Office and the Restaurant. 
  • Weekly tasks: Banking of cheques and cash, reconciliation of takings and petty cash reconciliation. 
  • Monthly tasks: Report running and control account reconciliations. 

 

As well as working with the theatre team, you will also be in regular contact with your Development Coach from college who will monitor your progress and support you through your Apprenticeship. You will have an ePortfolio to upload work to and your Development Coach will hold regular reviews with you, and will visit you in the workplace. You will be required to attend Newbury College one day a week for the Accountancy qualification part of your Apprenticeship. 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will be completing the Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Standard. 

You will receive in house and Apprenticeship training so that you can confidently demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and behaviours by the end of your Apprenticeship:

The majority of your training will take place in the workplace. You will be required to attend Newbury College, Berkshire one day (Term Time only) a week for your Accountancy classes. If you are required to take Functional Skills English and/or Maths these classes will be in addition to your Accountancy lessons. 

You will have regular reviews with your Development Coach and these will either be held remotely or at your workplace. At the end of your Apprenticeship you will be required to take an End Point Assessment to show your competency in the above Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours.  

By the end of your Apprenticeship, you will have completed the Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Standard. As part of this, you will also achieve an AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting (Level 2).   

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The role may lead to permanent employment and/or further training for the right candidate on completion of the Apprenticeship.
