What will the apprentice be doing?
The apprentice software engineer will support many improvement projects within a manufacturing facility which may involve quality improvements, cost efficiencies or operational efficiencies.
- Design & manufacture of electrical equipment such as control panels, robotic and automated systems, that comply to relevant standards, in line with business requirements.
- Design and develop control systems in a PLC, HMI, PC, SCADA environment, utilising software across a multiple platforms for automated manufacturing equipment.
- Work closely with all departments, ensuring you are a key team member in transitioning new designs through documentation, prototyping, timely production and testing
- Programming and de-bugging of Industrial Automation, Robotics and Machine Vision software/hardware.
- Provide Networking / communication capability with equipment in the manufacturing environment and systems within the business management environment.
- Create complete documentation for all implemented systems
- Provide post production support and training.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Technical Support
- Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
The apprentice will carry out their training at South West Durham Training, on day(s) release, to be determined.
