What will the apprentice be doing?
As a Practice Assistant you will be employed by Chambers to assist with the promotion and day to day administration of Chambers, and the practices of its members.
Your duties will include:
- Collecting incoming post and take outgoing post and DX to the relevant collection points; prepare and log all outgoing post and other correspondence
- Entering incoming briefs, instructions and associated documents on to the Chambers computer system
- Acknowledging briefs and instructions in accordance with policy
- Collecting and processing information in relation to briefs and instructions to ensure that fee notes are correct and sent out in a timely manner
- Processing public funded graduated fee claims
- Organising and taking books and files to court
- Answering telephone and taking messages
- Ordering and delivering of sandwiches as required
- Ensure office consumables are available e.g. stationery and printer cartridges
- Ensure the offices and storerooms are kept clear of rubbish
- Photocopying and scanning as required
- Running errands as required.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Business Administrator Level 3 will be delivered remotely during working hours.
- You will get a minimum of 6 hours per week for apprenticeship-related activities (Off the Job Training).
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On completion of the apprenticeship, the job progresses to being Practice Assistant, this would have a remuneration increase to the £17/18K mark. Few years of doing this role, then would become a Practice Manager, this is a significant step in a clerk's life.
