What will the apprentice be doing?
Following Operational Procedures for the safe receipt, storage and distribution of petroleum products.
Completing visual inspections of plant and equipment to ensure ongoing safe operation
Perform first line diagnostic and maintenance tasks as required
The auditing of 3rd parties to ensure compliance with operating procedures
Operation of the Terminal Automation System to control the stock movements.
We have opportunities within Operations for suitable candidates to join our Modern Apprenticeship Scheme run in conjunction with City of Bristol College. Successful candidates will enter into a three-year training programme gaining NVQ qualifications in Bulk Liquid Warehousing and Downstream Field Operations. Year 1 will be full time study based at College followed by years 2 & 3 based at the Westerleigh Terminal, near Bristol with day release to college.
Applicants must have at least four GCSE’s at grade C or above; including Mathematics, English and Science or a relevant equivalent qualification and have a keen interest in technical/engineering subjects. This scheme is due to commence in September 2022. Short listed candidates will undergo an aptitude and colour blindness test prior to interview.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
You will complete the Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard, and learn all the skills, knowledge and behaviours contained in this apprenticeship to become fully competent in your role. This apprenticeship will follow the electrical pathway.
You will spend 20% of your time in off the job training, where you will attend college. This attendance could possibly amount to two or three days each week in your first year.
You will be allocated an assessor who will come and meet you in the workplace to observe and review your work.
