What will the apprentice be doing?

Duties will include:

  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
  • Style and finish hair using a range of techniques to create a variety of looks
  • Greeting clients 
  • Assisting barbers on the shop floor 
  • Making refreshments 
  • Off the job training from the salon
  • Keeping the store presentable and tidy 
  • Booking appointments
  • Client consultation
  • Building a client base

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Qualification to be achieved:

  • Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals (Hairdressing/Barbering).
  • Functional Skills in English to level 1/Level 2 where appropriate and applicable.
  • Functional Skills in mathematics to level 1/Level 2 where appropriate and applicable.

Curriculum Delivery:

  • Delivered in our state-of-the-art academy based in Manchester city centre one day per week, alongside in-salon training supported by a dedicated trainer/workplace mentor.

Training on:

  • Consultation.
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp.
  • Cutting hair using barbering techniques to create a variety of looks.
  • Style and finish men’s hair.
  • Cut facial hair into shape.
  • Provide shaving services.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Develop a column of clients in a professional barbershop, increasing earnings potential. 
  • Promotion to Senior Baber/Director Barber level.

The 3rd Brother Story On the 14th December 2020, the 3rd Brother Barber Shop was born. Dylan, the owner, had dreamt of opening his own Barber Shop since being a kid. Now, alongside Ray and apprentice Brad, 3rd Brother is up and running with many extremely happy and loyal clients. Our main focus is to make our clients feel welcome, have a good laugh and leave the shop with a boost of confidence with their new trim. We are based in the heart of Romiley Village, Stockport where the community have welcomed us with the most amazing support. There are already big plans for the business and we are so excited for what the future holds for 3rd Brother.
