The successful apprentice will be carrying out bricklaying, groundworks and structural openings, as well as general labouring and some hard landscaping. This will be done on mostly extensions, alterations and renovations but some work will also be completed on new builds.

What will the apprentice be doing?
Main duties:
- Floor sweeping and keeping site clean and tidy.
- Carrying and stacking out.
- Mixing and bonding.
- Laying blocks.
- Installations.
- Levelling and drainage.
- Interpret drawings.
- Joint masonry.
- Building walls.
- Building cavity walling.
- Door and window opening.
- Demolition of walls.
- Installing steel beams.
- Concreting.
The apprentice will work alongside a very experienced bricklayer.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
For the full apprenticeship, candidates will complete:
- Level 2 Bricklayer Apprenticeship Standard.
- Level 1 Functional Skills in English.
- Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths.
Apprentices will also work towards and take the test for Level 2 English and Maths prior to taking the End Point Assessment.
The End Point Assessment will include a Knowledge Assessment (short written test) and a Practical Skills Assessment (skills test).
Apprentices will be expected to attend sessions once per week at our Easton campus, to the west of Norwich.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
A position may be available for the right candidate following successful completion of the apprenticeship. The business is looking for somebody who wants to develop and gain a full- time position following their apprenticeship.
