What will the apprentice be doing?

Duties will include:

  • Greeting patients
  • Recording and filing information about patients
  • Tidying and cleaning of surgeries
  • Sterilising instruments
  • Chairside setting up for treatments and assisting dentist during treatments
  • Reassuring children and nervous patients
  • Use of computers and treatment planning
  • Training of use of computer system and digital x rays
  • Reception duties 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Any job specific training
  • You will work towards a level 3 dental nursing qualification which has been approved by the General Dental Council as meeting the requirements for entry to the professional register as a dental nurse. Functional skills if required
