What will the apprentice be doing?
The apprentice will learn to
· produce components / tooling using a range of manual machines safely and to the required quality and within reasonable time scales
· setup and operate various CNC Machines 3 axis to 5 axis to produce accurate components safely and to the required quality and within reasonable time scales
· read drawings and measure components to the drawing tolerances using various measuring kit
· finish basic components on both surface & cylindrical grinding machines safely and to the required quality and within reasonable time scales
· select the correct grinding wheels, balance and dress them for specific components
· finish diamond turn components to drawing tolerances and handle them carefully
· Develop lean and continuous improvement skills to improve day to day operations.
· Become a part of both the Apprentice and Machine Shop teams, working together to achieve success.
· Display an ability and desire to develop and grow with the business.
· Develop understanding and knowledge of all aspects of Taylor Hobson Operations through secondment placements in other areas of the business.
· use computers and software to aid in the manufacture of components
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Year 1 training will be delivered full time for 12 months at the MTC in Coventry.
Years 2 to 4 will be delivered via block release with most of your time with Autodesk.
On successful completion you will receive a level 3 engineering technician apprenticeship standard
