What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Support the delivery of events, arts, heritage and tourism activities, ranging from small projects to large scale events.
  • Support the delivery the Rushmoor Cultural Strategy, working with our internal and external partners to ensure its success.
  • Provide administrative, organisational and operational support to ensure successful delivery.
  • Work closely with the Events and Cultural Projects Manager, Town Centres Manager and other council officers to gain skills and knowledge
  • Support the administration of the strategic arts partnership group (Cultural Compact)
  • Although there will be some work that is creative in its nature, the post is largely administrative and project management based
  • Support the implementation of marketing plans to promote activities across the borough to visitors and residents through a range of methods, including social media.
  • Liaise with finance to ensure that purchase orders, invoices and ad hoc payments are processed in a timely and accurate manner. 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • You’ll get great support to help you achieve success and develop your confidence, and you’ll be working towards a Level 3 Events Assistant apprenticeship with Artswork
  • Your training will be delivered on site in the council offices
  • Monthly 1-1 Zoom training sessions
  • Regular eight week on site reviews to track progress, set targets and action plans
  • Individual learning Plan to support individual needs and training
  • Reflective Learning journal and portfolio building of evidence

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Anyone, from any background, can have a successful career in event management if they have the right attitude, passion, stamina and commitment to learning. It is a demanding yet very rewarding environment to work in. Flexible, calm and proactive individuals with energy, enthusiasm, good communication skills, patience and an ability to empathise are ideal candidates for the events profession.

Things to consider

Manual handling and physical exertion are required to move and install events equipment, all appropriate risk assessments will be carried out. This role will involve some travel to partner organisations for meetings and events. Any visit would be discussed and agreed beforehand but a willingness to travel is important.
