What will the apprentice be doing?


  • Working closely alongside dentists and assisting them chairside during appointments.
  • Preparing a range of dental materials for fillings and impression taking
  • Cleaning and sterilising instruments.
  • Setting up surgeries and instruments.
  • Carrying out daily/weekly/monthly tests and tasks.
  • Processing radiographs.
  • Stock control
  • You are also expected to help with reception tasks.
  • Any other tasks that are within your skills and competence.

The Dental Nurse apprenticeship offers a genuine job in a Dental Practice with an accompanying assessment and skills development programme. It will develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours of your apprentice to operate competently in all aspects of clinical responsibilities.

You will complete on and off the job training whilst you are fully supported throughout, progressing to gateway and endpoint assessment.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Qualified Dental Nurse, other post qualification courses are available.
