What will the apprentice be doing?

You will work under the guidance of the Estates Coordinator supporting the Estates Team by undertaking general caretaking and maintenance duties:

  • collecting waste and refuse
  • decorating
  • maintaining the school grounds
  • porterage

You should be able to work as part of a team as well as use your own initiative, have an interest and commitment to work-related training and the ability to communicate effectively.


What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will be committed to a 24 month apprenticeship achieving a Property Maintenance Operative Level 2 (awarded by the Institute of Apprenticeships and Technical Education).

Training will take place on site during working hours.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

To be able to work in property maintenance using the skills and knowledge gained through the apprenticeship in a wide variety of employment sectors.
